ISSA-NOVA’s Dr. Brian K. Ngac Receives 2026 ISSA Honor Roll Award

ISSA-NOVA leader honored for sustained contributions to cybersecurity, professional education and workforce development

RESTON VIRGINA, August 18, 2026 – Dr. Brian K. Ngac, a longtime volunteer leader with the Information Systems Security Association’s Northern Virginia Chapter, has been named a 2026 recipient of the ISSA Honor Roll Award.

ISSA International announced its 2026 award recipients on Aug. 5. The Honor Roll recognizes individuals whose sustained leadership and long-term contributions have strengthened the cybersecurity profession and advanced ISSA.

Ngac has served ISSA-NOVA as Deputy Vice President for Membership and Vice President for Membership. In those roles, he supported member engagement, chapter operations, continuing education and membership growth, contributing to the strength and continuity of the Northern Virginia cybersecurity community.

“Brian represents the kind of professional leadership and volunteer commitment that makes ISSA-NOVA a stronger organization,” said Jim Wiggins, president of ISSA-NOVA. “He has consistently contributed his time, expertise and energy to our members while also helping develop the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. His recognition on the ISSA Honor Roll reflects not only his service to our chapter, but also the broader impact he has made through education, workforce development and his commitment to the cybersecurity profession.”

Ngac’s contributions extend well beyond his chapter leadership. He has advanced cybersecurity workforce development through experiential learning initiatives that connect students, faculty, government and industry partners with real-world cybersecurity challenges. His work with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative and NIST has supported applied cybersecurity education while helping students prepare for professional careers.

He has also contributed to the cybersecurity body of knowledge through publications and presentations for organizations including ISSA and ISACA, reflecting an ongoing commitment to professional education, applied research and the development of future cybersecurity professionals.

Ngac brings more than a decade of professional experience spanning information security, cybersecurity education and technology leadership. His career at Parsons Corporation began in 2013 and has included responsibilities in application security, program management, technology strategy, digital engineering, process improvement and support for government and industry customers.

In parallel with his industry career, Ngac has taught cybersecurity and information systems courses at Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University since 2018. He co-led development of George Mason University’s fully online asynchronous Information Security Management graduate program and has taught cybersecurity management content to experienced professionals.

His professional accomplishments also include recognition as a Northern Virginia Technology Council Cyber50 Award honoree and induction into Parsons Corporation’s Fellows Program in 2025. His Honor Roll nomination also identified him as a 2026 Online Teacher of Distinction at George Mason University.

The ISSA Honor Roll is intended to recognize sustained contributions to the information security community, advancement of the association and enhancement of the professionalism of ISSA’s membership. Candidates are expected to demonstrate long-term professional experience, leadership within ISSA and recognition as contributors to the security community beyond their local chapters.

Ngac will be formally recognized alongside other 2026 ISSA International award recipients at the ISSA International Awards Gala on Thursday, Sept. 10, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The gala will be held in conjunction with the Peak Cyber Symposium and will bring together cybersecurity professionals, volunteers, chapter representatives and industry leaders from across the ISSA community.
