Abstract: This presentation will provide an overview of current Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) methodologies and the evolution of DCO in light of new and emerging technologies. Specifically, we will look at the impact of cloud and hybrid or cloud-enabled applications on how Cyber Protection Teams operate. We will also cover how the growing integration of Operational Technologies (OT) and the Internet of Things (IoT) is leading to an expanding attack surface available to adversaries. We have already seen a variety of incidents in each of these realms that require us to reconsider how we currently train and employ cybersecurity analysts throughout the enterprise. The presentation will conclude with recommendations on next steps in specific training and education and further analysis on the role of DCO in the enterprise.
