ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems Implementation and Audit Classes
With the rapidly growing acceptance of the ISO 27K series Information Security Management System (ISMS) within commercial and even government organizations, ISSA-NOVA is please to announce we are co-sponsoring the following courses:
** ISO/IEC 27001:2005 ISMS Implementation training. This course enables the student to learn the steps required in the implementation of an information security management system (ISMS) according to the standards ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 27003.
This five day intensive course educates students on all the steps required to implement the ISO 27001 standard as well as supplies various templates and models for all required outputs for the ISMS (information security management system). This course is in process of being certified by the RABQSA. Course dates are July 21st to 25th 2008 and will be held in the Chantilly, VA area.
**ISO/IEC 27001:2005 ISMS Lead Auditor training. This course enables the student to learn the basis of the audit concerning management security information systems according to the standard ISO 27001:2005 (BS 7799-2: 2002).
This five day intensive course educates students on how to perform an audit for the organizations certifiers and how to facilitate the process of accreditation. This course is certified by the RABQSA. Course dates are July 28th to August 1st 2008 and will be held in the Chantilly, VA area.
The cost for each class is $2500 and includes all course materials. ISSA-NOVA members receive a 20% discount.

New Nominations for the (ISC)2 Fifth Annual Government Information Security Leadership Awards (GISLA).
The GISLA is awarded annually by the (ISC)2 U.S. Government Advisory Board to three (3) federal employees and is independent of professional certification. The 2008 Award Categories include:
* Senior Non-IT Security Manager
* Senior IT Security Manager (or senior security manager with significant IT security management responsibilities)
* Non-Managerial IT Security Professional
* Federal Contractor IT Security Professional
